Brain Teaser

"In the Balance"

Give This Brain Teaser One Minute's Effort

Scales 1, 2 and 3 are perfectly balanced. Calculating the value of each scale's triangles, circles. squares, and diamonds, determine how many triangles it takes to balance scale 4.

The answer is One Triangle

Scale 1 shows that two triangles equal one circle, so six triangles equal three circles.

Since Scale 2 shows that three circles equal three squares, six triangles equal three squares.

Scale 3 shows that one square equals four diamonds; two triangles equal four diamonds.

One triangle then, equals two diamonds, and would balance scale 4.
