Mission Update

Kenya '09

by Marti Fisher

Here’s the latest update from the remote non-Christian village we have been going to for the last two years. Our national missionary friend sent out New Year’s greetings to us and here is a portion of her email.

“We are so glad that the Lord has given us another year to serve Him and He has assured us that His grace is sufficient. We are praying for God’s favor this year.
The Bible says that we are the light of the world (Matthew 5:14). We have been given all 210 of the children in the village to teach. We want them to shine also. We count it a privilege to teach, train and mentor these precious young lives as we share the message of Christ in the Christian religious education — we are excited to serve God under all circumstances, even if in the valley of the shadow of death.
My joy is to see these tribal people come to Christ. What can I compare to such joy?”

And we would add to her remarks that we too have such joy in seeing these people from another world religion turn to Christ. We have been able to show the Jesus Film both in ’08 and ’09 and both times there has been fruit. I can pray and watch what the Lord is doing. I can only imagine lots of kids with Jesus in their hearts witnessing to their parents! We are joining the sub-chief of the village in his prayers that the whole village may come to know Jesus the Master!

Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old
he will not turn from it
(Proverbs 22:6).
