Scripture Picture image of Isaiah 66:9, now displayed on one of Martha Stewart's decorative pillows

My Scripture Picture of Isaiah 66:9 can be found on throw pillows in the Martha Stewart "Animals Decorative Pillows" collection.

I chose Isaiah 66:9 for this Scripture Picture because it presents a touching, caring expression of parental love coupled with the Lord's majestic creation.

To appreciate that verse's potential impact, it's wise to read it in its context. Here is
Isaiah 66:1, 2, 9 NCV.

Judgment and Hope

1"Heaven is my throne,
and the earth is my footstool.
Where is the house you will build for me?
Where will my resting place be?
2Has not my hand made all these things,
and so they came into being?"
declares the Lord.
"These are the ones I look on with favor:
those who are humble and contrite in spirit,
and who tremble at my word.

9In the same way I will not cause pain
without allowing something new to be born," says the Lord.
"If I cause you the pain,
I will not stop you from giving birth to your new nation," says your God.

Note about the subject of the photo to the right:
A "greater one-horned rhino" — a species that nearly went extinct in the 20th century — recently gave birth to a cute
little calf, which usually weighs more than 100 pounds at birth and gains a few pounds daily. An adult "greater one-horned rhino" can weigh between 4,000 and 6,000 pounds.

Rhino calves are born without a horn. Its only protection comes from its mother, which is notable because rhinos are generally solitary animals, preferring to be alone than to move and live in a herd. However, this doesn't prevent Mom from loving and attending to her calves.

I "Photoshopped" this image, suggesting that Martha Stewart was in fact holding one of my faux throw pillows.

Martha Stewart's Personal Request of Me

I was surprised yet delighted to be asked by Martha Stewart to adapt one of my 600 Scripture Picture creations to fit nicely on an eighteen-inch-square pillow highlighting her Animals Decorative Pillows collection. [Not]

Martha's "fave" Scripture Picture of mine, in my Animals and Insects collection, features a baby rhino with her mother. I chose a fitting passage for my creation: Isaiah 66:9. The finished product is a delightful throw pillow that can easily style a room by adding a loving Christian element to it.

Inspired by the Spirit of Jesus, I'd sometimes come across a photograph that brought to mind a specific Scripture. I'd imagine how to uniquely edit that photo to maximize its impact before adding the text that I'd color and style. Utilizing more than twenty years of creativity using Adobe's Photoshop software, I'd sit down at my trusty Macintosh and fully orchestrate an artistic marriage of photo and text. Each new Scripture Picture, in my opinion, imaginatively underscores the power and purpose of its passage.

Having created more than six hundred Scripture Pictures to date, I was inspired one day this month to imaginatively display one of my favorite productions on a throw pillow. I started with my original Scripture Picture of Isaiah 66:9, which you can see here.

Look at the three-part image atop this page. With Photoshop, I combined my image's layer (left) with the white pillow's layer (center). Skillfully using an assortment of Photoshop tools, I meticulously transformed my original digital creation into a realistic-looking fabric throw pillow, to which I added a dimensional background image and a tiny, blue "custom ID label" (to its right). The finished creation, with its added fluff and shadows, suggests that my Scripture Picture had in reality been displayed attractively on a pillow.

To create this authentic-looking "Scripture Picture Displayed on a Throw Pillow," I opened my original production in Photoshop. Using a variety of tools and filters, I composited a number of layers into the finished pillow creation. After carefully adding numerous gradient shadows and creating fluffy highs and lows on the pillow's surface, I added my custom "WCD ID logo" to a new fabric label that I created and put on the right side of my pillow image. All in all, my adorable Christian throw pillow creation looks very much like the real thing.
