The Man at the Pool — John 5:1–15

Week 3 Facilitator — Dave Cornman

"How's that working for you today?" This passage addresses issues related to repeated patterns and habits where you remain in bad relationships. It affords opportunities to share with others how you became "unstuck" from those "locked patterns of life," those codependency enmeshments from which it's hard to escape.

"Sir," the invalid replied, "I have no one to help me into the pool when the water is stirred. While I am trying to get in, someone else goes down ahead of me." Then Jesus said to him, "Get up! Pick up your mat and walk." At once the man was cured; he picked up his mat and walked (vv. 7–9).

This story teaches us that, no matter how long or short your struggle endures, you should seek Jesus; when you encounter him, as the cripple did, Jesus can transform your broken situation.

Questions: Are you feeling stuck in a rut or broken? Have you sought a personal encounter with Jesus? How and why would you share with others your salvation, restoration, and completeness?
