A Few Enjoyable Post-Christmas-2008
Family Activities to Share

by Dale Fisher

We had a wonderful Christmas time as a family. On Christmas day, all the children were home. Both Anna and David were able to join us.
It was enjoyable opening gifts around our Christmas tree that can be seen in the first photo. Afterwards, we considered going to Death Valley but decided that it might be too cold. Instead, we stayed home and took a few day trips instead.
After Christmas we ventured up to Forest Falls, as you'll see in the second photo, to play in the snow and have a friendly snowball fight.
As shown in the third photo, on another day, when Andrew and Abby each had some friends over, we went to a local firing range and fired shotguns at little green discs that were tossed into the sky.
A great time was had on yet another day when we drove to Los Angeles where dined at an Ethiopian restaurant — what a special treat! After dinner, we visited the Griffith Observatory, as you'll see in the fourth photo. We all thought that it was fantastic seeing the Orion Nebula through the observatory's big telescope. (See various observatory links beneath the fourth photo.)
All in all, the days following the Fishers' Christmas celebration were filled with enjoyment for all.
Thankfully,

The Fishers in front of their Christmas tree

The entire Fisher family gathers in the living room, in front of
their tall, beautifully decorated Christmas tree.

Enjoying a snowball toss at Forest Pass, California

After Christmas, the family ventured up to the snow and had a fun time
throwing snowballs and enjoying the snowfall at Forest Falls, a tiny
mountain community in the Southern California county of San Bernardino,
about a 20-minute drive from the Fishers' home.

The family shot shotguns at a local range

After Christmas, a few Fisher family members enjoyed shotgun shooting
at a local range. Andrew's two college friends (far left and far right)
and Abby's boyfriend (second from left) joined them
while Dale aimed his camera and shot this photo.

Adah, Marti, and Dale viewed outer space at the Griffith Observatory

Also after Christmas, Adah, Marti, and Dale (left to right) enjoyed a visit to
the Griffith Observatory in Los Angeles, where they viewed one of
God's awesome creations — the orion nebula — in the night sky,
through a large telescope. Here the three stand next to one of
the observatory's Hall of the Sky exhibits.
