Hiking and biking for the Fishers
during Christmas week — 2007

On December 22, five Fisher family members biked around Lake Perris, which is 17 miles southwest of their Redlands, California home.
A full lap around the lake is 8 miles long. Everyone (Yes, everyone!) successfully completed the lap — even Dale, who had proudly turned 60 on the 16th!

Resting after the long bike ride are Adah, Marti, Abby, Dale, and Andrew.

Andrew's keen eyes detected some footprints on Lake Perris' shore.

On a portion of Lake Perris' shore is this sand spit.
As family members carefully tiptoed out onto the spit, Andrew's keen eyes
detected some footprints that you can see in the next two photos.

Andrew detected this paw print.

Can you see the paw print? It's 2.5–3 inches long.
Can you tell what animal might have made it?
Andrew, the family's "expert tracker", reported that
the print was made by a normal-size bobcat.

Andrew discovered these two paw prints of the front and rear paws of a racoon.

Andrew discovered these two paw prints several yards from the bobcats print.
These, he tells us, are front and rear paws of a racoon.

No matter who or what made these prints, it might be worthwhile
to look at this well-known message about "footprints in the sand."

Family members guessed which animals had made these prints.

Although each family member guessed which animals
had made the two pair of prints, one of the girls
apparently guessed incorrectly.

Before getting back on their bikes, Andrew spotted an eagle in flight.
On another photo collection page (click the "Andrew's photos of God's creatures"
link below), Andrew posts remarkable images of bald eagles
that he photographed using a new 400-mm lens on his Nikon camera.
